Do you have sound understanding of lifeguard/ instructor principles? Are you able to practice good judgement? Do you have exceptional communication skills and the aptitude to command the attention of an audience? Do you have previous supervisory experience and are passionate about aquatics recreation? If you answered yes to these questions, this position could be a great fit for you! We have Summer Term openings for Lifeguard/Instructors to work up to 40 hours per week from April 20, 2026, through to August 23, 2026. What YOU’RE Responsible for: Direct supervision and safety of patrons; ensure compliance with governing bodies Ensure facility patrons are enjoying the pool amenities in a safe manner; address and correct unsafe or unruly behaviour; practice and encourage safe work behaviour and educate patrons Be an active leader who ensures health and safety standards are implemented and maintained Train lifeguard/instructors during shadow shifts and complete required paperwork Act as a lifeguard and program shift supervisor Recognize the signs of emergencies and take appropriate first aid actions with completion of required documentation Assist the Head Lifeguards with the maintenance and completion of lifeguard and instructor certifications Develop lesson plans, instruct swimming lessons to children and youth of all skill level, and provide required feedback Daily pool maintenance duties including water tests Ensure a clean, safe and enjoyable environment is maintained Other duties as assigned What YOU Bring: Minimum of 1 year’s previous experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor 1-2 years previous supervisory experience in lifeguarding/instructing is an asset CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: LSS Swim Instructor, LSS National Lifeguard, & LSS Intermediate First Aid ASSETS: LSS Swim Abilities Instructor, LSS Lifesaving Instructor, LSS Aquatic Emergency Care, LSS Oxygen Administration, LSS National Lifeguard Instructor, LSS Trainer Designations, Pool Ops 1 & 2, & LSS Lifesaving First Aid Instructor Experience with directing children and youth. Programming experience would also be an asset Proficient Microsoft Office skills Demonstrate your lifeguarding abilities through a wet interview process Resolve conflict and problem solve Meet the shift requirements; shifts will include late evenings closing the facility and weekends and holidays Provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and a Child Services Intervention Check Communicate effectively and work as part of a team Promote all safety standards What WE Offer: Up to 40 hours per week A starting hourly wage of $24.95-$26.72 that will be dependent on qualifications/certifications and experience Membership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre And an amazing team to work with!!
