Description
Monitors swimming area to prevent accidents; provides assistance to swimmers and enforces pool safety rules. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •    Maintain surveillance of swimming pool and surrounding deck area  •    Rescue and administer first aid and CPR as needed •    Maintain order in swimming areas •    Inspect pool area for cleanliness and safety hazards •    Test chlorine or bromine content and pH value of water and add chemicals as needed •    Enforce MTA’s swimming pool rules, regulations and policies •    Apply Emergency Action Plan when necessary •    Set up, break down, and store pool deck and safety equipment upon opening and closing  •    Adhere to company memos and safety notices and prepares Accident/Incident reports as necessary •    Regular and reliable attendance required •    Performs other related duties as assigned  Skills/Knowledge:  •    Knowledge of lifesaving techniques and methods required •    Knowledge of first aid principals and practices required •    Must be able to utilize and interpret a chemical testing kit Education/Experience:  •    High School Diploma preferred •    Previous lifeguarding experience preferred Certificates and Licenses:  •    Must possess current Lifeguard; Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer; and AED certifications. Lifeguard training available through MTA. Other: •    Must be available to work weekends
