Job Details Job Location: Meadowhill Aquatics Center - Northbrook, IL 60062 Position Type: Part Time - Seasonal Education Level: None Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Category: Aquatics The Northbrook Park District is hiring Lifeguards to join our team for the 2026 pool season! We provide the training needed to become StarGuard lifeguard licensed, and CPR/AED certified. You'll be able to use these skills to create a fun and safe environment for our pool patrons. Pay & Schedule: Starting rate of $15.00 Per Hour This is a part-time seasonal, non-exempt position. Shifts will range from Monday through Sunday - 6:00 am – 10:00 pm Training will begin 5/4/2026 Duties & Responsibilities: Enforces all pool rules and regulations established by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), StarGuard, Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) and the Northbrook Park District. Professionally maintains “10/20” protection in the assigned zone at all times. Efficiently and appropriately rotates positions during shift. Actively maintains good public relations with patrons. Assists to keep pool deck free of debris and clutter throughout the day. Routinely sets up rescue equipment at the beginning of each day and stows it at the end of the day. Attends all pre-season trainings and meetings and all assigned in-service trainings. Actively participates in Visual Awareness Testing (VAT) drills. Readily assists with minor facility maintenance. Effectively teaches swim lessons as needed. Regularly helps keep lifeguard break room clean and organized. Performs first-aid as needed. Documents all incidents and accidents. Responsible for fanny rescue pack and its contents at all times. Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures. Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner. Follows safe work practices. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. Assists with special events as needed. Qualifications Must be 16 years of age or older and have an interest in working at an aquatic facility; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills. Holds current StarGuard lifeguard license Illinois Mandated Reporter Certification – Department of Children and Family Services Skills & Abilities Experienced swimmer/diver Maintains professional standards set forth by StarGuard In good physical and mental condition in order to do the job Work with and instruct children in a positive and caring manner Communicate effectively with co-workers and public in a professional manner during stressful situations Become CPR/AED Certified Knowledge Proper swimming technique District safety policies and procedures Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Responsibilities
