Description JOB SUMMARY Looking for a summer job that keeps you active, outdoors, and making a real difference? Liberty County Board of Commissioners is looking for responsible, reliable, and confident individuals to join our team as a Lifeguard! As a lifeguard, you’ll be at the heart of our LCRD summer programs, helping to keep pools safe, positive, and fun for the community . Your Major Duties will include: Performing water rescues and administering emergency care and first aid. Identifying safety issues or concerns in the pool area. Maintaining lifeguard equipment and supplies. Assisting in maintaining, regulating, and monitoring pool chemical levels. Closely monitoring pool activities, reporting any accidents, problems, or unusual incidents occurring at the pool. Opening and closing the pool according to hours. Closely monitoring weather reports and directing swimmers out of the water during dangerous conditions. Providing swim lessons. Collecting admission fees, monitoring the number of admitted patrons, and issuing clothing baskets. Performing other related duties as assigned. What We’re Looking For Strong attention to water safety. Reliable, responsible, and flexible. Great communication, teamwork, and customer service skills. Ability to perform basic math. Knowledgeable of commercial pool maintenance and operation. Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain one). Physical Demands / Work Environment The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, crouching, bending or stooping. You may frequently lifts light objects and occasionally lifts heavy objects and must be able to distinguish between shades of color. The work is typically performed outdoors. You will be exposed to pool chemicals, noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and occasional inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least fifteen (15) years of age at or before the date of employment. Must have a current or acquire a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, to include training in First Aid and CPR. Must be able to swim 300 yards, dive to 12 feet to retrieve a 10 lb. brick, and tread water for two minutes. Liberty County is an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace.
