Description Everyone knows the pool is the coolest place to be in the summer. Join our Aquatics Team to make sure everyone can enjoy the pool in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor or a little bit of both, you’re going to love working in aquatics at the Y because you’re helping swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water. No lifeguard experience? No problem, we’ll train you! POSITION DESCRIPTION: Monitor pool area to ensure the safety of all swimmers and visitors Enforce pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid or CPR as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area and surrounding facilities Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and pool conditions Provide excellent customer service by assisting members and guests with inquiries and ensuring a positive experience At the YMCA, we foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages personal growth and community engagement. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid. (Training provided by the Y, if needed) Must 16 years of age. YMCA Lifeguard or certification by another nationally recognized organization. Must possess a cooperative spirit to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, Y members, program participants and the general public. Must have ability to relate with pool patrons in a positive manner. Must be professional, alert, courteous and tactful. Must be serious in their manner toward job responsibilities and have an aptitude for thinking clearly in emergency situations. Must have strong water skills and maintain top physical fitness
