The Taylor District YMCA provides high quality aquatics programming, engages with the community and supports the development of lifesaving skills.   Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will: * Put in to action the principles and practice of lifesaving, lifeguarding and first aid * Observe patrons in the pool, enforce safety regulations and maintain safety in the facility * Willingness to complete swim instructor training * Be in accordance with all applicable provincial and YMCA Standards, policies and procedures   * Help facilitate aquatics programming, plan activities for community events and birthday parties * Take payments for drop-in swims, punch passes and group bookings * Help keep the facility clean and in good condition   Qualifications-you bring: * Current Standard First Aid certificate  * National Lifeguard - Pool Option * Swim Instructor certification - preference given to those with this certification * Experience as a Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor - preferred * Access to reliable transportation or a vehicle  * Demonstrated high level of customer service skills  * Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date    * 3 professional references   About YMCA BC: By igniting belonging and championing health equity, YMCA BC strengthens the foundations of community. Responsibilities
The lifeguard is responsible for observing pool patrons, enforcing safety regulations, and maintaining a safe facility environment. Additionally, they will facilitate aquatics programming, assist with community events, and handle customer payments.
