Aldar Education is seeking outstanding Lifeguards for Muna British Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing next academic year, 2025-26. Muna British Academy is in the heart of the city of Abu Dhabi and was recently rated ‘Outstanding’ by Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) Serving over 700 students from Nursery – Year 6 we follow the National Curriculum of England. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • UAE approved (ADQCC) Swimming Coach or pool Lifeguard Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate and CPR knowledge

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • To be a competent instructor, able to support the needs of all learners.
  • To be qualified to teach swimming.
  • To be a qualified life guard.

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Flexible in approach to work.
  • Must be a proficient swimmer.
  • CPR knowledge.
  • Actively involved in co-curricular activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Arabic proficiency desired.
  • Must be physically fit and able to work outdoors.
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.
  • Able to work as part of a team, sharing ideas, giving andreceiving feedback.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To be an exemplar swimming instructor, teaching all of the children in the school to swim.
To ensure the safety of the children in and around the poolside in line with the NOP.
To ensure all pupils and staff around the pool are aware and are well rehearsed in the EOP procedure.
To promote swimming and healthy lifestyles including supporting the PE team in the organization and participation of galas, competitions and health promotion events etc.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Ensuring the children are supervised at all times.
  • Support the coach and PE team in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Support in organising and participating in galas and other sports related activities.

  • Supporting class teachers and classroom assistants over the care and supervision of children- prior to, during and after lessons.

  • Supporting PE team in running extra-curricular provisions.

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT AND DUTIES:

  • Follow the school’s established policies and procedures, e.g., behavior, NSOPs, code of conduct and child safeguarding policy.
  • Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary, within the school’s established policies.
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour, which are expected of pupils.
  • Have high expectations of good conduct, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.
  • To ensure a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional, and academic growth for all students.
  • Carry out duties as directed and within the school’s established policies.

WIDER PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To work as part of a curriculum action group, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events linked to the team.
  • Support in organizing and taking part in school events, outings and extra-curricular activities (ECAs) which may take place at weekends or after school hours.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers with regards to student’s achievements and well-being using school systems/processes such as CPOMS, as appropriate.
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Take initiative of own professional development to secure high quality teaching and for successful execution of roles and responsibilities.
