WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Able to be seated at a desk and computer workstation for extended periods of time up 2 to 3 hours daily.
  • Winter: able to work while standing for extended periods of time up to 2 to 3 hours daily.

Summer: able to work while standing up to periods of 8 hours daily.

  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds repetitively.
  • Able to engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque during the loading of guests in chairs.

Winter – loading guests on fixed and detachable lifts.

Summer – loading and unloading guests, bikes, and sleds on fixed and detachable lifts.

  • Job requires working outdoors in rain, snow, smoke and everything in between sometimes in extremes such as 20 below in winter mid 90’s in the summer.
  • Job may require working any of the department’s positions during times of heavy need or multiple sickness/injuries.
  • Non-smoking environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises all aspects of chair lift operations, Alpine Slide and Spider Monkey Mountain.
  • Assists and oversees staff scheduling congruent to the ergonomics of each job site for running an economically efficient department. Including adjusting schedule to accommodate for flexing down or covering for no-shows or injuries.
  • Assists with completion of staff evaluations and disciplinary actions on a consistent manner and timely basis.
  • Compliant with all governing agency standards, including NSAA, ANSI, B-77 and USFS.
  • Assists in preparation of lift department budgets for winter and summer operations and ensures that the department operates within budget guidelines.
  • Assists in pre-season and on-going training.
  • Will be expected to give lunch breaks/breaks where needed daily, ski breaks when time permits.
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the safety and training data base.
  • Works closely and communicates effectively with Manager and Director of Mountain Operations. Report on any unsafe working condition to the Manager in writing and engages follow-up to prevent repeated accidents or unsafe circumstances.
  • Gains thorough understanding of all aspects of Whitefish Mountain Resort to function as information source for guests and employees.
  • Supervises the department’s safety program including but not limited to completing and filing incident reports.
  • Meets company’s requirements for appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; ready and able to cover shifts at lifts when needed.
  • Assists Supervisors with team meetings on a regular basis to promote successful communication.
