Description:
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
- Master’s Degree
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years or more of experience with large scale lighting systems operations and maintenance, preferably within a range of disciplines: dance, theater, and music. Prior experience in maintenance, basic repair, and troubleshooting of lighting equipment is essential
- Ability to read, draw and interpret site diagrams, location maps, plots etc.
- Capable of working at elevated heights, 90’ and over
- Able to lift over 50 pounds
- Excellent communication skills between all areas of production, programming partners and artists
- Excellent record-keeping, organizational and multi-tasking skills
- CAD and Microsoft Office Suite
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Working at height
- ETC family consoles

Responsibilities:
- Work with the Production Manager, Programming Department, and others to achieve the desired lighting results for a variety of events including dance, theater, and music productions
- Set up, test, operate and strike lighting equipment as needed for all Arts Center productions
- Maintain and safeguard the lighting equipment of the Arts Center, as well as other technical assets, through the development and implementation of yearly preventative maintenance and inventories
- Perform or arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment as needed
- Serve as Head Lighting Designer for all live performances at the Arts Center, as necessary, working directly with artists and Production Manager on the implementation of artists’ lighting needs to ensure world-class production values
- Coordinate use of equipment between Arts Center venues. Supervise facility changeovers as needed
- Assist Production Manager in determining staffing assignments and needs for events. Supervise lighting support staff as needed
- Communicate lighting capabilities and other details to the Programming Department and collaborative partners as needed
- Act as a House Technician on duty as needed, supporting the use of the venues by visiting companies, rental clients, third party vendors, and crew
- Apply equal standards of professionalism and excellence to all productions in the Arts Center, from student productions to world-class international productions. The Arts Center is first and foremost a teaching tool
- Support, collaborate with, and mentor presenting student artists in developing work and realizing their creative vision
- Be available for technical assistance in case of emergencies as necessary
- Attend all production meetings as needed
- Other duties as assigned. Willing to work weekends and evenings as required
