The RNOH are looking to appoint a post-CCT Clinical Fellow in Limb Reconstruction Orthopaedic Surgery (Adult and Paediatric) to start April 2026 for 12 months. Based at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, this fellowship provides an excellent higher training opportunity in all aspects of Limb Reconstruction in a world-renowned tertiary referral centre for orthopaedic surgery. This will include experience with management of internal and external fixation, circular frames, lengthening nails and management of bone infection.
The successful candidate will experience the full range of adult and paediatric limb reconstruction surgery. The placement provides excellent opportunities for clinical and professional development. Throughout the duration of the fellowship the candidate will be expected to engage in the planning and delivery of services as well in research and service improvement projects.
This post does not attract an NTN, but is suitable for a candidate who has passed the FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent, and is looking for subspecialty experience in complex elective limb reconstruction, bone infection and trauma. Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice prior to the start of employment.
Paediatric and Limb Reconstruction Unit
The Paediatric and Limb Reconstruction Unit provides a regional referral service for paediatric and adult congenital and acquired deformity, the sequelae of traumatic injuries and bone infection. Within the unit there are three consultants specialising in Limb Reconstruction and junior and ancillary staff to support the service. The Unit is one of the largest in Europe in lengthening nail surgery and has an excellent clinical and academic record. Within the RNOH the unit closely collaborates with the Paediatric Unit and the London Sarcoma Service. A multidisciplinary approach is provided through regular meetings. The unit has established systems for data collection and is a pioneer in research in the field with excellent links with the University of London’s Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Sciences.
The full job responsibilities are included in the job description document attached.
