Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the School of Child and Youth Care in the Faculty of Community Services at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) invites applications for a Limited Term Faculty (LTF) position at the rank of Assistant Professor in areas of Child and Youth Care Practice. The appointment shall be effective July 1, 2025, for a two-year term, subject to final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will engage only in the teaching and service duties of faculty members in the School, while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across such activities. Teaching assignments may include large classes. The candidate will contribute to our undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA) programs through teaching, mentoring, and supervision of students to facilitate junior scholars and diversify the field.

Candidates must hold an earned Ph.D in Child and Youth Care or a closely related field by the appointment date or alternatively, be very close to completion of a Ph.D. In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of:

  • excellence in teaching through a teaching dossier that outlines the teaching philosophy, teaching accomplishments, including experience with course/curriculum review/development, excellent pedagogical practice, sample syllabi, and teaching evaluations
  • an ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students
  • a commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service and teaching, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population
  • ability to contribute to the life of the School, Faculty, and the University through collegial service; and
  • membership or membership eligibility in the Ontario Association of Child & Youth Care (considered an asset).
