QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Third level IT, science or engineering qualification OR Leaving Certificate science-based subjects with strong interest and aptitude for IT
  • At least one year’s experience of LIMS, IT support, laboratory work or similar is preferred
  • Previous customer service role/technical support role advantageous
  • Experience of LIMS applications, ideally Labware is desirable
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven practical, maintenance and troubleshooting skills, able to come up with technical ideas and solutions, interpret data and present in the required format
  • Full clean driving licence preferred
  • Understanding of accredited laboratory or other regulatory work environment
  • Fluent in English and confident with report writing
  • Excellent IT skills including proficient user of MS office and use of proprietary software tools
  • Able to work alone and within a team. Flexible and adaptive to changes in business requirements
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, innovative environment focussing on continuous improvement in all aspects of our work

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

Working with an experienced management team in a new establised company, this is a great opportunity to be responsible for day to day first line LIMS Administration and IT support for a busy multi-disciplinary testing laboratory.
Provide first line support for resolution of routine LIMS & IT issues, assist with new user setup, support routine LIMS administration and operational issues. Act as front line liaison with IT/LIMS support providers and suppliers in relation to installation, repairs and routine maintenance of IT and comms facilities and utilities on site. Excellent opportunity to receive training, develop skills and expertise of laboratory IT and LIMS systems to enable career progression as business grows.
NOTE: Candidates with scientific qualifications and experience are also welcomed provided you also have a genuine interest and aptitude for LIMS and IT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide first line technical support and issue resolution to all IT users/employees.
  2. Provide support for LIMS - data build and administration, system configuration, user training & support
  3. Provide first line support for both desktop application and mobile devices for onsite and remote/hybrid workers via Microsoft TEAMS, phone, email as appropriate and escalate as required
  4. Assist with LIMS administration, hardware build activities and software deployment as required
  5. Troubleshoot and promptly resolve local scanner, label printer and general printer issues
  6. Ensure strong customer focus with a positive, friendly and proactive approach
  7. Assist with support for VPN, mobile phones & devices liaising with external third party providers as required
  8. Liaise with external third party support providers and local management on escalations and service delivery
  9. Adhere to quality system requirements, company policies and operational procedures and ensure daily checks are performed
    10.Assist with specification and selection of new IT equipment and solutions
    11.Maintain records and systems for management of IT services
    12.Prepare relevant documentation including SOPs, forms and other supporting procedures
    13.Provide technical support, advice and training to other colleagues
