Job Details Job Location: Lincoln Grant Scholar House - Covington, KY 41011 Position Type: Full Time POSITION TITLE: LINCOLN GRANT SCHOLAR HOUSE Academic Coordinator REPORTS TO: The Director of LGSH FLSA CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT Pay Rate: $21.22 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: The focus of the LGSH Academic Coordinator is to support campus operations in conjunction with the academic pathway for all applicants in and outside of pre and post-residential services at Lincoln Grant Scholar House. LGSH Academic Coordinator also performs program oversight, structure, compliance, and tracking and reporting for outcomes and services to all participants. The LGSH Academic Coordinator is responsible for community outreach, recruitment, and ongoing assistance and support to program participants with attaining their educational goals and ensuring that participants are registered with healthcare. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides and coordinates services for students concerning academic, career choices, goals and objectives Provides academic advising and group workshops on Financial Aid, Scholarships, Grants, College accreditation, College selection strategies, Accessing Student advising services and other campus services necessary for successful access and acclamation to college for students in the application process/Pre-Residential services Ensures academic advising sessions that include assistance with orientation to the academic component of LGSH program, matriculation at their respective colleges and universities, connection to financial aid and scholarship resources, career interest assessment, and connection to tutoring opportunities as needed for student remediation Provides and documents a minimum of 1 academic advising sessions a month to students in residence, with an understanding that some students will require additional sessions each month. Provides Academic assessments for all applicants of LGSH Develops and implements processes for residential applications to the LGSH Campus. Shares information about LGSH and support referral relationships with the community through presentations, tabling events, and informational sessions with area schools, businesses, and non-profit organizations. Provides academic advising and follow up for students in Post-Residential services upon request. Works with the students’ colleges, universities, and individual instructors to support classroom coursework and monitor student progress toward educational goals. Prepares reports of a confidential nature to share with the Director of Lincoln Grant on student performance when appropriate. Works with the Director of LGSH to develop program policies and procedures for all programming and services provided at the LGSH Campus Determines schedule of grade collection and develop methodology to track term/semester grades for all residential participants as to ensure compliance with program expectations. Maintains up to date academic records and advising session case notes on all LGSH resident students. Enters data on a pre-determined schedule in a shared data base for LGSH participants. Coordinates meetings and meet regularly with all LGSH staff and Property Management staff for case conference and to ensures program processes are compliant, functional, and efficient for residents, LGSH staff, and Property Management staff. Provides outreach in the community and work with local colleges and universities on recruitment for LGSH on site at NKU, GCTC, Cincinnati State, University of Cincinnati, Thomas More College, College of Mt. St. Joseph, and additional accredited institutions on a regular basis. Attend additional outreach, recruitment, and marketing events as assigned, sharing information about LGSH and support referral relationships with the community through presentations. Maintain current knowledge of community educational resources including admissions, financial aid, registration, healthcare updates and related academic processes at institutions attended by the LGSH residents/students. Attends relevant trainings to acquire new skills and enhance academic advising program. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Guidance Counseling, Education, College Personnel, or related field preferred A valid driver’s license is required. Experience with data collection, tracking, and reporting. Experience with Microsoft Office programs and use in the workplace. Knowledge of and ability to utilize internet and email. Strong relationship building skills, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills. NKCAC-LGSH Program cannot employ anyone who has been found by the Cabinet to have abused or neglected a child. Ability to work with people of diverse and varying socio-economic backgrounds. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit at, read, and enter data on computer for prolonged periods of time up to 65% of the time.
