Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Skilfully prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes following the cafe’s recipes.
- Cooking Techniques: Exhibit proficiency in grilling, frying, baking, sautéing, and plating techniques to ensure high-quality food presentation.
- Menu Knowledge: Familiarise yourself with the cafe’s menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to deliver dishes that meet quality standards.
- Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene protocols for handling, storing, and cooking food items.
- Organisation: Maintain a clean and organised work station with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment readily available.
- Time Management: Efficiently manage multiple orders to ensure timely food preparation and service even during peak hours.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation activities for a seamless workflow.
- Quality Control: Monitor dish quality consistently and take corrective actions as necessary to meet the cafe’s standards.
- Stock Management: Assist in managing kitchen inventory by reporting low stock levels and supporting stock rotation efforts.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Contribute to the cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment and work areas following health standards.
- Special Orders: Accommodate special dietary requests or custom orders while upholding quality and presentation standards.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Line Cook or Chef in a similar busy café or restaurant setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in various cooking techniques and food preparation methods is essential.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards is required.
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with effective time management abilities.
- Team player with outstanding communication skills.
- Flexibility to work different shifts including weekends and holidays.
