  The Jefferson in Washington D.C. is currently recruiting for a Line Cook to join our award winning Culinary team.   The Jefferson, Washington D.C. has been named one of the top hotels in Washington, D.C. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in growing within a culinary setting that finds delight in the details that take our guests experience beyond expectation. Responsibilities:  * Report to work on time in uniform and meet grooming standards * Ability to execute all cooking methods and knife skills required by the assigned station * Communicate effectively with other departments * Complete special projects assigned by management * Cleans and maintains station while practicing good safety, sanitation and organizational skills Qualifications:   * Past experience in fine dining restaurants and /or luxury hotel restaurants * Cooking or vocational school, apprenticeship or proven 2 years experience in a fine dining restaurant /or luxury hotel * Working knowledge and understanding of classical, traditional and modern cuisine, including recipes and techniques * Stable work history that indicates reliability * Able to speak, read and write English  * Flexible demeanor with ability to focus on customer service for both external and internal guests  * Able to meet the physical demands of this position with regard to walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 70 lbs * Ability to adapt easily to changing temperatures in the kitchen * Food handling courses and licenses desirable, but able to pass Food Handler Certification courses within ninety days of hire   Independently owned and operated, The Jefferson, Washington DC, offers competitive wages, paid time off, and comprehensive benefit plans for full-time employees!
