JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Line Cook/Pastry Assistant to join our culinary team at illy Caffé Atlanta. This hybrid role is ideal for someone passionate about both savory cooking and pastry work. You will support daily kitchen operations, execute menu items consistently, and assist with pastry preparation, ensuring quality, presentation, and efficiency align with our standards.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Prior experience in a kitchen or bakery required (minimum 1 yr)
  • Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift 30+ lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Execute breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Assist with pastry preparation (croissants, cakes, plated desserts, and specials).
  • Follow portioning, plating, and timing guidelines to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations, pastry areas, and cooking line.
  • Perform daily mise en place for both kitchen and pastry production.
  • Operate and maintain equipment (ovens, mixers, fryers, TurboChef, etc.) safely.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health code standards.
  • Properly label, date, and store ingredients according to café policies.
  • Monitor and minimize food waste while ensuring freshness and quality.
  • Work closely with baristas, bartenders, and FOH staff to ensure smooth service.
  • Communicate with the Kitchen Supervisor and Pastry Lead to meet production needs.
  • Assist with special events, catering orders, and seasonal menu changes as needed.
