Position: Line Cook
Department: Food & Beverage – Kitchen
Reports To: Sous Chef
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt (Casual)

SUMMARY

The Avenir Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated Line Cook to join our Food & Beverage team. Reporting to the Sous Chef, this position is responsible for the preparation and service of hot and cold food items in accordance with The Avenir Universal Service Standards and operational procedures. If you’re passionate about food, thrive in a fast-paced kitchen, and enjoy working as part of a team, this is a great opportunity.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Enrollment or completion of a culinary program is an asset
  • 6 months to 1 year of kitchen or foodservice experience preferred
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certification required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • English proficiency required, French proficiency an asset

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, measure, and portion all food items in a timely and accurate manner
  • Follow all quality, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Set up and operate kitchen equipment properly
  • Package food products to specification
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked workstation
  • Adhere to waste control guidelines and log spoilage
  • Assist with other kitchen tasks as needed based on event requirements

To perform the duties of this position, you must be able to:

  • Use manual dexterity for chopping, mixing, blending, etc.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Operate dangerous kitchen equipment safely
  • Stand and walk for the entire shift
  • Reach overhead, bend, twist, squat, push, and pull as needed
  • Work in a hot, noisy, and damp environment
  • Frequently come in contact with sharp tools, hot liquids, and hot surfaces
  • Frequently immerse hands in wate
