Wren’s Nest Baking Co. is an exclusively gluten-free bakery in Ruston, Washington, located in the Ruston Carriage House, near Point Defiance and Point Ruston. Wren’s Nest Baking Co.’s mission is to create incredible gluten-free foods that will be enjoyed by everyone in the community, while being safe for everyone to eat.
We are looking for a line cook who will provide food for our summer evening events. The menu will consist of happy hour-style meals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Line Cook will be under the supervision of the Pastry Chef. Tasks include hands-on cooking for the daily guests.
This is a kitchen-based position and requires collaboration with the Service staff to fulfill tasks and essential functions. The responsibilities and duties of this position as described are representative of those an employee must perform. This is not comprehensive and other duties may be assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent standing and walking, in and around kitchen
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of gluten-free products, including sliders, flatbreads, charcuterie boards, and more, following established recipes and procedures to ensure consistent quality and taste.
  • Follow recipes accurately, ensuring proper proportions and adherence to gluten-free guidelines. Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate needs to the management team.
  • Operate cooking equipment, including ovens, mixers, and proofing cabinets, with precision and safety in mind. Troubleshoot and address any equipment issues that arise.
  • Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and organized cooking environment. Follow proper handling procedures for allergen management.
  • Work closely with other members of the team, including the Pastry Chef and service staff, to coordinate production schedules, manage inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of ordered dishes.
  • Participate in the assembly and presentation of dishes for display, ensuring they are visually appealing and in line with Wren’s Nest Baking Co.’s branding.

REGULAR DUTIES:

  • Work with the Pastry Chef to confirm any items that should be added to the preparation list for the day.
  • Support a logical flow for getting dishes cooked and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all food is safely and properly handled and stored.
  • Assist in cleaning up the workstation and workspaces, clean the floors, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
