Job Description MS NOW is looking for motivated producers who are looking to thrive in a breaking news situations and grow their careers by flexing multiple production skills regularly. We are expanding our breaking news team to cover the network when important stories unfold and develop in overnight hours. On nights when there is no breaking news coverage, this team will produce taped packages for Morning Joe. The team will also produce best of highlight shows from our primetime lineup for weekend playback. The team will also help our linear programs and the MS NOW brand grow in the digital space. Working as a line producer for an overnight team that oversees breaking news for the network, while also contributing to original content produced for Morning Joe and taped hours put together using content from various MS NOW shows. This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East. Key Responsibilities: Building show rundowns for breaking news coverage during hours that MS NOW is in tape Working under deadline pressure to help create and vet show content Managing control room during breaking news including changes to rundowns and organizing and communicating with talent in the field Working with segment producers in creation of live segments Contributing to oversight of original news packages for Morning Joe Aiding in assembling taped hours compiled from existing MS NOW shows Delivering taped shows to master control Assisting social media team in monitoring and creating social media content Fill in for Senior Producer as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Must have at least 5 years of experience in live television (i.e. morning shows, cable shows, broadcast TV, etc.). Must have at 1 year of line producing experience. Editorial experience in a fast-paced news room environment, ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change. Experience in story first journalism approach. Desired Qualifications: Possess ability to develop story ideas, research and plan segments. Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for provocative, compelling television. Knowledge of current events, politics and pop culture. Wide-range reader of news, including op-eds. Strong writing skills. Expert tease writer. Experience in Breaking News. Additional Job Requirements: Must be willing to work in New York, NY. Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
