Description JOB SUMMARY Responsible for providing essential ground support services to aircraft and customers in a positive and professional manner at the Mt. Pleasant Regional Airport. Responsible for performing in all facets of the FBO ground handling operation including but not limited to, receiving/dispatching aircraft, aircraft fueling, baggage/cargo handling, aircraft towing, operating a fuel truck, conducting airfield/ramp inspections and responding to emergency situations. Responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient operation while adhering to aviation regulations and safety procedures. This position reports to the Manager of Airport Operations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Conducts daily airfield safety inspections; uses vehicle and handheld radio to manually inspect airport runways/ramp areas for hazards to include cracks, spalls or holes, foreign object debris, vegetation growth, ruts/depressions, rodent or other animal damage and wildlife presence; ensures runway/taxiway/ramp edge lights, runway threshold lights and airport beacon and windsock lights are operable. Conducts FBO facility and property inspections. Ensures FBO is operational and free of damage. Perform daily janitorial services of FBO, vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning. Ensure surrounding property and perimeter fencing/gates are damage free and secure, parking lot lights operational and landscaping upkept. Inspect T-Hangars on a monthly basis. Initiates emergency response procedures if necessary, notifying CRAA of any aircraft/automobile accidents or incidents during business hours and following emergency protocol for any situation requiring emergency services. Conducts Fuel Quality Control procedures. Follows ATA specifications 103 for fuel quality control procedures. Dispenses correct fuel type for each specific aircraft supporting piston, turboprop and jet aircraft. Receive/Accept Fuel Deliveries. Ensure fuel from fuel trucks/fuel tanks is clean and dry. Utilize hydrometer to verify fuel specific gravity and confirm correct fuel per order before pumping fuel into fuel farm tanks. Fill out all required paperwork accurately. Manage ramp traffic and activity ensuring safety for aircraft, vehicle and foot traffic. Utilize hand signals and ground radio to communicate and direct aircraft into appropriate parking spots. Facilitate tie down procedures, securing each aircraft after flight, to prevent losses/damages/injury caused by winds or sudden storms. Utilize FAA approved knots to include double locking half stitch and bowline. Facilitate aircraft towing as necessary. Follow pre-tow inspection process to ensure safety of personnel, aircraft and structures. Complete safety checklist allowing aircraft to be towed with tow bar and golf cart or tow bar alone. Continually assess situation and consult with pilot on any issues that arise. Maintain the highest level of situational awareness and safety. Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures. Receive and review various documentation and complete processes, forward or retain as appropriate, prepare or complete various forms, reports, correspondences and other documentation, compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records. Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments, operates a golf cart/gator, fuel truck, crew car, fuel pumps, hydrometer, cell phone, two-way radio, desktop computer and VeriFone/credit card machine to process payments. Other duties as assigned Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: High school graduation or acquisition of a GED. Requires little vocational experience. Six (6) months of experience in a related field of work. Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience. Ability to work a set schedule and flexible to work overtime, holidays and covering time off as needed. Specific License or Certification Required: Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
