QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cook Level 1 Certificate or higher - Red Seal Certified Cook Preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to Health and Safety, WHMIS, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and The Retirement Home Act
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Experienced in directing, managing, coaching and mentoring staff to motivate and bring about efficiency and creativity.
  • Good computer skills required

Responsibilities
  • As well as being the “lead cook”, you will oversee the day to day performance and work closely with the culinary team to meet the goal of “a fine dining experience” with consistent and well balanced home cooked meals but with a flair for finer dining
  • Monitor and cater to Resident’s special dietary needs
  • Assists in developing menus, inventory and food purchasing
  • Assist with Budget control through monitoring food and supply costs and minimizing waste
  • Maintain records and reports relating to food costs, inventory of equipment and supplies, and the dietary/departmental budget
  • Ensure sanitation regulations and safe food handling procedures are being followed
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
