This junior, Linux focused, role requires minimal hands-on experience, though demonstrable technical know-how is expected, either gained through formal education or self-directed learning. You will be surrounded by mentors, working on an experienced, diverse, and highly effective team building and operating secure, compliant, and efficient hybrid lab infrastructure to empower hardware engineers to thrive. In collaboration with service owners, the team defines, discovers, tracks, and acts on development environments for our partners.
In the Linux Lab Technician I role, you will blend traditional systems administration with modern Site Reliability Engineering practices, ensuring seamless provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of hardware engineering lab environments and the people who use them. 
JOB DESCRIPTION
· Front-line support for Linux servers and workstations in hardware development labs and data centers
· Triage incoming support requests and system alerts for proper escalation
· Support Windows laptops used by engineering end-users connecting to the Linux-based engineering environments
· Using existing automation, deploy Linux and Windows systems following established procedures
· Install servers and similar equipment into server racks or other test fixtures
· Install network and test-fixture cabling following established procedures
· Function as smart hands for remote subject matter experts
· Resolve end-user concerns under the guidance of senior staff
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – BASIC REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED
· AA/AS in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical pursuits or Military Service with related Military Occupational Specialty or occupational training or demonstrably equivalent knowledge
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. (the occasional server) and work in both a lab and data center environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
· One or more years helpdesk support
· Fundamental Linux systems administration
o Install operating system, connect to a network, create a user, debug basic software function and installation problems, etc.
· TCP/IP network fundamentals
o Function of an IP address, Netmask, broadcast address, Domain Name Service (DNS), etc.
· Fundamental understanding of Windows client operating systems
· Fundamental understanding of PC hardware
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Excellent organization driving the ability to handle a high-paced work environment

· Linux or UNIX administration certifications
· Fundamental knowledge of Macintosh systems
