Description
Unix Administrator will administer and manage RHEL Infrastructure. This position will work closely with APAC Infrastructure, Application, Network and Security teams to manage RHEL platform for the APAC region. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrate strong expertise in RHEL system administration, including installation, configuration, hardening, and lifecycle management of Linux servers to ensure security, performance, and high availability. Design, implement, and manage Linux clustering solutions, including Pacemaker clusters and IBM GPFS (Spectrum Scale) for high availability, scalability, and performance in on‑premises environments. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux infrastructure, covering compute, storage (including GPFS), networking, and security components. Leverage operational experience to design and implement infrastructure improvements that enhance system security, stability, performance, and operational efficiency. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve configuration management solutions using Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, patching, and standard operational tasks. Design, implement, and maintain automation playbooks and scripts using Ansible to streamline repetitive tasks, deployments, cluster operations, and configuration management. Work closely with application, middleware, and storage teams to ensure seamless integration of Linux systems and GPFS storage with business applications and services. Ensure Linux systems and clustering environments comply with internal security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Proactively monitor system and cluster performance and conduct capacity planning to anticipate resource needs and ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot complex system, cluster, and storage incidents, manage escalations, and coordinate with vendors (including Red Hat and IBM) for advanced support as required. Plan and execute scheduled preventive maintenance, including OS patching, upgrades, cluster maintenance, and system hardening activities. Perform system and performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning across standalone and clustered Linux environments. Fulfil service requests and change requests in line with established ITSM and change management processes. Manage and support VMware virtualized environments hosting Linux workloads. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external vendors to support operational activities and project deliverables. Provide day‑to‑day Linux system administration and operations support, including participation in 24x7 standby/on‑call rotation. Provide technical input, design reviews, and advisory support for infrastructure and application projects. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date system, cluster, and configuration documentation. Qualifications: 10+ years of relevant working experience as a Unix administrator in on premise setup. Strong technical knowledge and experience in administration and maintenance of Linux. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong background in Unix technologies including High Availability and virtualization. Storage admin/SAN technology from system perspective. Familiarity with ITSM, ITIL, or other relevant frameworks is a plus. Proven ability to identify and improve performance measurement and reporting processes in a large organization. Experience of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams with a delivery focus in both project and operational environments Excellent spoken and written Business English skills and the ability to write clear and concise text for different audiences. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and sensitivity. A flexible approach to adapt to changing deadlines.
