The university serves a large and growing population of remote learnings in Master’s and doctoral degrees The university's progressive approach to higher education prepares students to meet real-world industry demands.   Capitol Artificial Intelligence Learning and Innovation Environment (CAILIE) Overview: Capitol Tech University has invested over $1.3M in GPU infrastructure, including (24) Nvidia H200 GPUs, 400Gbps RoCE networking, and 200TB of NVMe storage. The lab infrastructure will be based on open-source technologies including Linux and Kubernetes. We are looking for passionate infrastructure and AI engineers to help build-out our lab with new capabilities that allow our researchers and students to train, evaluate, and integrate complex workflow agents into different projects across the university.   Position Summary: The Linux Cloud Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and daily operations of the CAILIE's technical infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring that all AI systems and services are functioning optimally and securely, supporting both research and educational activities within the lab. This is a full-time on-campus position on our beautiful 52-acre campus in Laurel, MD, on the Baltimore Washington parkway.    Key Responsibilities: • Implement and manage CAILIE systems, including hardware setup, software installation, and network configuration. • Provide technical support to faculty, students, and staff, troubleshooting issues and ensuring smooth operation of the lab's resources. • Maintain and monitor the lab’s infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment, to ensure high availability and performance. • Assist in managing remote access for students and faculty, ensuring secure and efficient use of CAILIE resources. • Automate routine tasks and processes within the lab to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workload. • Collaborate with the Artificial Intelligence Engineer to plan and execute upgrades, expansions, and other infrastructure projects. • Document all technical procedures, configurations, and system changes for future reference and compliance. • Perform other duties as required.   Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 5+ years of experience in IT administration, with a focus on managing advanced computing environments. • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix systems, networking, and containerized environments (docker/podman and Kubernetes). • Experience with enterprise networking switches (Mellanox/Nvidia or Cisco preferred) • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and GPU-based computing is highly desirable. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.   Salary Range: The salary for this position typically ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, depending  on experience and qualifications.
