Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space and Launch Organization seeks an entry-level Linux System Administrator for our Proprietary Programs in Seal Beach, CA to support installations, perform environment set-up, and maintain operational readiness with varying operating systems and hardware interfaces.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in system integration; hardware and software installation; configuration and disposition of servers, workstations, and directories to support the architecture.
  • Provide support for the design, validation, and implementation of changes to computing delivery systems.
  • Perform system monitoring, backup, and restore procedures to ensure system and data availability.
  • Administer user access according to security requirements.
  • Perform problem resolution and troubleshooting.

This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Successful completion of a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or enrollment in a Continuous Vetting program such that periodic updates are no longer required.
  • Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering current Linux versions.
  • Experience with operating systems such as RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux.
  • Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, a current Security+ (Sec+) certification or other current DoD 8570/8140 Approved Baseline Certification (i.e. successful completion of a DoD 8140 IAT Level II Certification).
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in policies and implementation of Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Deployment and management of Linux systems in an enterprise network environment.
  • STIGs implementation experience and maintaining a cybersecurity baseline.
  • Lifecycle management of hardware and software for compliance with obsolescence / end-of-life requirements.
  • Experience in scripting, automation, (Python, Perl, Bash, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, …).
  • Experience in containers such as Kubernetes (K8).
  • Virtualization experience (VMWare, KVM, …).

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor), or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
