YOUR MISSION:

Peraton is seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator to support our high-impact Cyber Intelligence team in San Antonio, TX. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience:
  • 20+ years as a Linux System Administrator on projects of similar scope and complexity
  • Proven ability to plan and lead system administration efforts
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • May substitute 5 additional years of experience in place of degree
  • Security Clearance:
  • Active TS/SCI with current polygraph required
  • Technical Expertise in:
  • Designing and implementing Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions
  • Developing DoDAF-compliant architectures, including operational, technical standards, and system/service views
  • Leading end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize long-term system performance
  • Applying models, simulations, and prototyping to manage risk and lower development costs
  • Managing system configurations throughout lifecycle (hardware, software, and documentation)
  • Creating design alternatives that factor in cost, complexity, reuse, risk, and scalability
  • Developing and monitoring risk mitigation plans, including fallback strategies using EVM data
  • Supporting Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) efforts with well-justified solution recommendations
  • Providing technical leadership across the full system development lifecycle-from requirements gathering through integration and testing
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

You’ll work hands-on with large-scale Hadoop and Accumulo clusters, helping maintain the stability, performance, and security of our cloud systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and maintaining system health across distributed environments
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues
  • Sustaining and optimizing storage systems
  • Collaborating with hardware, software, security, and infrastructure teams
  • Automating tasks and managing configurations using tools like Puppet, Bash, and Python
  • Providing after-hours support as needed for mission-critical issues
  • Ensuring compliance with system security requirements
  • Participating in system design and architecture discussions
  • Maintaining system scripts, patching software, and managing user accounts
  • Keeping accurate hardware and system inventories
