Job Summary: The LINX Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation, preparation, termination, splicing, troubleshooting, and testing of fiber optic cables on network cabling projects. This role involves working on various projects to ensure high-quality and efficient fiber optic network installations. The Fiber Technician will work closely with other team members to meet project deadlines and maintain the highest standards of safety and performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Installation and Termination: * Install fiber optic cables, including underground and overhead installations. * Prepare and terminate fiber optic cables using appropriate tools and techniques. * Perform splicing of fiber optic cables as needed for project completion. * Ensure all installations meet industry standards and LINX quality requirements. * Troubleshooting and Testing: * Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic cable installations. * Conduct testing of fiber optic cables using tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources. * Document test results and ensure they meet project specifications. * Maintain accurate records of installations, tests, and troubleshooting activities. * Project Coordination: * Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects. * Adhere to project schedules and deadlines. * Assist in planning and organizing tasks to optimize workflow and efficiency. * Safety and Compliance: * Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. * Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. * Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. * Participate in safety training and meetings as required. Minimum Requirements * Proven experience in fiber optic cable installation, termination, splicing, and testing. * Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA CFOT) is preferred. * Proficiency in using fiber optic testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. * Commitment to ensuring quality and safe installation practices. * Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools; ability to lift/carry/setup a 50-pound box or ladder * Must own low voltage tools, snips, cable strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc. * Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime as needed and can work under pressure and meet deadlines * Ability to travel on occasion * Must pass 7-year criminal background check and must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen. * Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and current automobile insurance Preferred Experience (not required) * High School Diploma * BICSI, Technician, or Installation Certification * Powder Actuated tools Certification * Confined Space Certification * CPR and First aid certified * Manufacturers certifications for Installation and Maintenance Pay Rate: $27.00 - $38.00 depending on experience TEAMLINX offers great benefits including: * 401K with 50% employer match up to first 5% * Insurance options including Medical plans with Flexible Spending and/or Health Savings Accounts, Disability, Dental and Vision * 8 Paid Holidays * 3 weeks Paid Time Off (PTO) combining sick pay and vacation days * Career growth opportunities This position will remain open until May 31st or until filled.
