Job description As a member of a motivated teaching team, the ideal Literacy teacher will support and promote the academic, social, and emotional development of all Middle and High School learners (mainly Years 7–13). The Literacy teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, creative, and literacy-focused learning experiences, supported by thoughtful planning and documentation. They will foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, actively contribute to their collaborative learning neighbourhood, and play a full part in the shared responsibilities and daily life of the school community. This is a full-time, fixed term (2 years) position, based in Oakura, Taranaki, New Zealand Starting date 28th Jan.2026 (approx.) Key areas of responsibility Design and implement creative proficiency-based units of learning curriculum that adhere to the principles of Green School, so the lessons are accessible to all students. Create unit plans following the Green School unit planning processes that incorporate REAL teaching principles, Green School Skills and Green School values. Give continuous specific, timely feedback to learners and their whānau, including written reports and conferencing. Collect, analyse, and use literacy assessment data to inform teaching practice, track learner progress, and support differentiated learning across middle and high school levels. Collaborate to provide an individualised, differentiated, and personalised support as needed, mentoring and guiding all learners to achieve an effective learning experience. Collaborating with the Learning Neighbourhood team to support the academic, social and emotional needs of learners. Responsibilities
