LITIGATION AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION LAWYER (GOVERNMENT LITIGATION / TORTIOUS CLAIMS / INSURANCE LAW)

Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a motivated lawyer to join our high performing General Insurance team in Melbourne.

In this position, you will work closely with experienced and respected Partners, lawyers and a team of law clerks across a broad range of interesting and complex matters, including but not limited to public liability claims, toxic torts, intentional torts and institutional abuse claims, coronial inquests, investigations and inquiries, professional indemnity and self-insurance matters, as well as providing strategic, risk management, indemnity and insurance advice. You will ideally have at least 3 years PAE in government and/or personal injury litigation, but other areas of experience may also be considered.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Possess experience dealing broadly with personal injury, commercial and/or government litigation matters;
  • Have experience in drafting legal documents, advices and engaging in alternative dispute resolution;
  • Demonstrate a client focused approach with superior time management and organisational skills in order to manage competing deadlines and demands;
  • Be self-motivated and keen to immerse yourself in our team;
  • Have the ability to work relatively autonomously and handle files and matters independently, with appropriate mentoring and supervision;
  • Have excellent attention to detail and analytical skills which will be backed up by strong academics;
  • Be familiar with relevant statutory legislation and case law; and
  • Possess a genuine interest in insurance law, litigation, inquiries and dispute resolution and a strong desire to further your career in this area.
