Below are the responsibilities and skills needed to succeed in this position. Overview of the Position Primary responsibility will be managing the firm's court/legal calendar and deadlines for attorneys (details below) as the firm's calendar clerk Must possess strong understanding of legal civil procedure, motions and court appearance types Proficiency with NYSCEF required Excellent and professional communication skills required - written and verbal Confident and comfortable with regularly communicating with the courts, opposing counsel, adversaries, clients and, of course, the attorneys and other staff members of the firm Additional responsibilities will include legal drafting and filing Responsibilities: Manage court/litigation calendar (return dates, deadlines, resolving scheduling conflicts, adjournment requests, scheduling/arranging EBTs, verify court appearance types (i.e In person/Virtual/Submission)) Draft/circulate/file stipulations Monitor court filings (answers, counterclaims, motions) and court notices; update files and personnel as needed Updating case management as needed Help manage deadlines by professionally communicating and advising attorneys/paralegals of filing deadlines and appearances Prep/circulate/file PC and CC orders with opposing counsel Prep physical (hard copy) files for attorneys for court Arrange per diem attorneys for coverage Draft/serve/file litigation documents such as discovery demands, subpoenas, replies, Note of Issue, etc. Additional legal/office assistance as needed, including reception backup, assisting with processing mail Bonus: the hired candidate will not only receive the listed compensation and benefits but will also get bragging rights that they work at an awesome place with awesome people (value: priceless).
