About the role Process complex and litigated claims nationally, whilst managing the performance of external legal providers. Ensure that claims are settled in an economic manner and strive to manage professional partnerships to ensure timely and cost-effective decisions are made. Maximise recovery income and manage down settlement amounts by negotiating with Recovery Agents and Solicitors representing third parties. Evaluate claims to determine if they are viable to defend, issue proceedings on, and subsequently engage external legal counsel. Handle complex or difficult demands through the application of experience and advanced negotiation skills. Maintain records and activity trackers of litigated matters in accordance with AAL protocol and regulatory obligations. About You Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or industry accreditations. Significant experience managing complex claims, ideally within the insurance, litigation, or financial services industry. Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for commercial decision-making. Ability to recognise, avert, manage, and escalate conflicts to enable effective and timely resolution in accordance with organisational processes. Ability to make independent as well as collaborative decisions during expected or unexpected situations and then take responsibility for the consequences of decisions taken. Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders to establish strong professional relationships and influence outcomes. Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with systems, software, databases, reporting, and communication tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including high-level negotiation capability to support engaging with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact, and influence.
