The Lockton business is growing rapidly, and the Litigation team serves the International business (everywhere outside of the USA). Your Responsibilities
The Litigation team work within the larger Legal, Risk, Compliance and Company Secretariat (LRCS) division.
A highly specialised and skilled team we are looking to take on someone with significant experience within insurance litigation.
You’ll get to work in key area’s including professional indemnity, insurance regulatory and employment law.

KEY SKILLSET:

  • Insurance Law expertise.
  • Experience dealing with Professional Indemnity claims.
  • Flexibility and willingness to be involved in all areas of law pertaining to an in house role.
  • Proven technical ability.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and influential skill
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong drafting skills.
    Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

EXPERIENCE/QUALS

  • 4+ PQE as a Solicitor qualified in England and Wales with current practising certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience post qualification gained in private practice in an insurance and regulatory litigation team.
  • Experience in the insurance broking sector handling professional indemnity claims is desirable.
  • Experience of the insurance industry/London Market is a necessity.
  • In house experience is desirable.
  • Experience of employment law is desirable.
  • Excellent academic record.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Head of Litigation in the running of and administration of the litigation matters affecting the company.
  • Running your own case load and strategic decision-making with oversight as appropriate given experience.
  • Advising all levels of the business, including senior executives, on various legal queries – requiring blending of business and legal knowledge.
  • Delivering training to the business units in person and via Teams.Advising on employment restrictive covenants for leavers and joiners.
  • Preparing litigation reports to various committees and boards.Keeping up to date on and advising the business and legal team on changes in law.
  • Keeping legal policies and procedures up to date, drafting best practice guidelines.
  • Assisting members of the legal, risk and compliance team where necessary.
    Reporting to insurance carriers.
