ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is the downtown Ottawa office of an international law firm. They are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to join their litigation team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide high-level support to legal professionals with busy practices
  • Draft, format, proofread, and file legal documents for Ontario Courts
  • Manage multiple calendars, including scheduling meetings, court appearances, and arbitration hearings, while tracking all related deadlines
  • Maintain organized and confidential client files, both digital and physical
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other external parties
  • Review legal documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Support billing and time entry processes, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
  • Use legal software and tools for case management, e-discovery, and document automation
  • Provide administrative support during court proceedings and client meetings, including preparation and follow-up
  • Collaborate with legal professionals and other assistants to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and ethical guidelines
  • Deliver excellent client service and help maintain strong client relationships
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the firm’s operations
