QUALIFICATIONS

Here is a little more on what we are looking for when it comes to qualifications.
· A minimum education level of a Legal Assistant Diploma or 4-year bachelors’ degree.
· Experience in an office administrative work environment is an asset.
· Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment is an asset.
· Solid understanding of standard office administration practices and procedures.
· Working experience managing multiple calendars is an asset.
· Possess a general understanding of basic legal terms and rules of the law society.
· Advanced level customer service skills and able to communicate professionally.
· Typing speed of 60-70 WPM and a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

Based out of our office in Edmonton, AB, the Legal Assistant/Paralegal is responsible for supporting our team of legal professionals. The Legal Assistant/Paralegal is required to conduct research and prepare for hearings, trials, and other court proceedings. This position works closely with our lawyers to take care of the more time-consuming administrative tasks, reducing lawyer inefficiency and increasing productivity so the firm can deliver a client-centered experience. The following is a list of some of the responsibilities of the Legal Assistant:
· Managing client communications and client services.
· Calendar coordination.
· Legal research and writing.
· Client billing and accounting.
· Document organization and management.
· Inputting timesheets.
· Preparing documents.
· File maintenance.
· Service of documents.
