We are seeking a permanent, full-time experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Halifax office to provide litigation paralegal services to the Litigation Practice Group.SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review, organize and analyze documents (including identifying witnesses, obtaining discovery transcripts, preparing chronology of underlying facts)
  • Data entry and coding documents;
  • Draft pleadings and review documents for privilege and relevance;
  • Cross reference documents with discovery and/or trial exhibits;
  • Produce production sets through Litigation Support Software and prepare documents (Affidavits of Documents, Medical Brochures for experts, etc);
  • File management: Import lists of documents from opposing counsel into Litigation Support Software:
  • Record all billable and non-billable functions on a daily basis;
  • Utilize computer technology in an efficient and productive manner;
  • General office and clerical duties, including billable and non-billable functions;
  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of paralegal diploma or equivalent, and 5-10 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal. Previous experience using a legal database program is preferred;
  • Excellent technical skills and exceptional attention to detail;
  • Accurate and efficient data entry and keyboarding skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service;
  • Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment;
