This role is ideal for someone with musical experience and skills, including proficiency in at least one performance area - piano and/or organ, choral conducting, or voice - who can foster strong congregational singing and provide musical leadership for choirs and cantors. The ideal candidate brings sound musical, liturgical and pastoral judgment in the selection of music for worship and is knowledgeable and comfortable with the Church’s musical tradition in a variety of forms and styles. Requirements The Liturgical Music Specialist finalizes music plans for parish worship, assembles appropriate repertoire options, and provides musical direction and resources to clergy, choir, and ensemble directors. This position works closely with the Director of Liturgy, Music Coordinator, accompanists, and a team of choir directors to foster coherence, reverence, and consistency in the parish’s musical worship while allowing appropriate creativity and expression within the Church's musical tradition. This role emphasizes seasonal planning and repertoire guidance that equips directors and ensembles to serve Sunday Masses, holy days of obligation, and major liturgical seasons with prayerful preparation. Additional responsibility includes evaluating, supporting, and forming cantors and musicians, collaborating with the parish school music program, and coordinating with other departments and outside organization for music at Masses and special events.
