EDUCATION

Completion of formal, accredited caregiver training program and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience would be an asset, but not required. Strong knowledge of the principles of caregiving as well as well as customer service are essential. Training can be provided where needed.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • First Aid, CPR, Personal Caregiver Certification or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License with access to reliable vehicle required
  • Ability to pay close attention and remain attentive to client at all hours of worktime.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the emotional, spiritual and physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent on an ongoing basis.
  • Morning Duties may include assist with personal hygiene, skin care, mouth care and general routine as required.
  • Assist the client with all meal preparation, planning with all meals and snacks throughout the day.
  • Beware of medical history and any allergies
  • Assist with household duties - examples are laundry, vacuum, bedding and keeping a clean, tidy environment.
  • Provide companionship, create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interests and hobbies.
  • Perform errands as needed (e.g., groceries) as well as accompanying the client to medical appointments as requested
  • Remind clients to review daily range of motion exercises.
  • Charting progress notes daily with any changes in the clients’ conditions, bowel routine, skin breakdowns and significant changes
  • Notify case manager of any client and family concerns promptly.
  • Make sure emergency sheet is up to date and DNR in place.
  • Cell phones are to be used for emergency only and keeping them on vibrate or mute while working with the client. Client comes first!
