JOB SUMMARY

The primary role of the Live Sound Engineer is to support the technical aspects of University UMC’s worship experiences by ensuring high-quality audio support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience running live sound in a church or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of audio mixing consoles (digital and analog), microphones, monitors, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with the Behringer X32 Compact mixing console or similar equipment
  • Familiarity with the Midas M32 Live mixing console or similar equipment
  • Familiarity with ProPresenter, video switching, and live streaming platforms is a plus.
  • Technically proficient with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and calmly under pressure.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to take direction.
  • Flexible and dependable with a heart for service and ministry.
  • Satisfactory completion of all requirements of the MinistrySafe protection policy; adherence to all facets of the policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to move freely in and out of settings (worship, rehearsal, church functions)
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot sound equipment for multiple Sunday services, service rehearsals, and a weekly Thursday night service.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Community Worship to ensure all audio/visual needs are met during rehearsals and live services.
  • Maintain, test, and store A/V equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Mix live audio for worship teams, speakers, and special events.
  • Support projection/slides, video playback, and streaming (as applicable).
  • Be available for additional services, events, or rehearsals as needed (e.g., holidays, weddings, funerals).
  • Ensure smooth transitions between service elements through effective communication with worship and production teams.
