About the role


South Toolburra Farms is seeking an Assistant Manager Poultry to join our dedicated team in Warwick, QLD. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to develop your career in farm management within the poultry production sector. You will work alongside our experienced management team to oversee daily operations and ensure the efficient running of our poultry facilities. This role is essential to maintaining the high standards of animal welfare, productivity and biosecurity that define our operation. On site accomodation provided.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and supervision of poultry production operations, including monitoring flock health and welfare
  • Oversee day-to-day staffing activities, including scheduling, training and supervision of farm workers
  • Implement and maintain strict biosecurity protocols to protect flock health and prevent disease outbreaks
  • Monitor feed and water management systems to ensure optimal nutrition and hydration for all birds
  • Conduct regular checks and liaise with professionals when necessary
  • Maintain detailed records of production data, mortality rates, feed consumption and other key metrics
  • Assist in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to minimise downtime
  • Support the implementation of farm policies and standard operating procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant farming regulations and animal welfare legislation

What we're looking for

  • Experience in poultry farming or related livestock management, demonstrating practical knowledge of production systems
  • Strong understanding of poultry health, welfare standards and biosecurity protocols
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in an agricultural setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff at all levels
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and willingness to learn farm management software
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail in record-keeping and reporting
  • Knowledge of relevant farming regulations and environmental management practices
  • A genuine commitment to animal welfare and sustainable farming practices
  • Relevant agricultural qualifications or certifications are advantageous
