Summary
In details, the position encompasses duties and responsibilities as follows:
We are looking for an experienced accountant to manage a small team within Trade Accounting focussing on LNG and Natural Gas commodities. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate monthly financial reporting by contributing to the preparation of the Financial Statements and internal Management Accounts for a number of entities. The principal activity of these entities is the marketing of Oil, LNG, Natural Gas, Power and Environmental products, within Glencore plc’s Oil Marketing segment. You will also contribute to various management reports, providing insight and analysis where required.
To be effective in the role you will need to develop strong knowledge of internal systems and controls and pro-actively engage and collaborate with Commercial, Middle Office and other Back Office teams to understand the commercial activity we support. The successful candidate will have an eagerness to improve processes and systems, to drive efficiency and keep pace with a growing business.
The ideal candidate disposes of:

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE TO NEW AND EXISTING TRANSACTIONS AND ADVISE THE BUSINESS OF POTENTIAL ACCOUNTING IMPACT.

The team will perform various monthly trade accounting processes which may include:
Broker reconciliations.
Intercompany reconciliations.
Inventory reconciliations.
P/L reconciliations including investigation and resolution of erroneous trading system entries.
Booking month-end journals as required.
Liaising with Auditors on both management and statutory audits.
Contributing to management reports and analysis.
Skills:
Chartered Accounting qualification (ACA/CIMA /ACCA)
Educated to degree level (2:1 or above)
Must have 3-5 years post-qualification experience, 3 years experience in a leadership and management role would be an advantage.
Keen interest in the commodity markets
Excellent IT skills (Excel) and a keen interest in process automation.
Strong technical IFRS knowledge (IFRS 9/IFRS 15/IFRS 13/IFRS 16).
Interpersonal skills.
Good understanding of control processes and control design.
Take initiative in resolving issues in a structured methodical manner.
Have a strong sense of responsibility and ownership, and are attentive to detail, in a fast-moving environment.
Experience using SAP accounting system and Endur trading system an advantage
