Description

Morrice Transportation has an open position on our team for a Load Planner.
This role is responsible for efficiently planning, scheduling, and dispatching freight loads to ensure on-time delivery, optimal resource utilization, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the ability to remain professional in stressful situations.
The open position is for a steady afternoon shift commencing at 2 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in a fast-paced logistics, dispatching, and load planning environment.
  • Well-organized, punctual, and computer literate—with an emphasis on multi-tasking in a team environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Unprecedented Customer Service skills.
  • Strong geographical knowledge and understanding of transportation routes in Canada and the US
  • Proficient in the use Microsoft Office, TMS and GPS tracking systems to manage dispatch operations. Experience using Truckmate and ISAAC In Real Time are definite assets.
  • Knowledge of Transport Canada, DOT and MTO regulations and ELD system

Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule daily loads based on customer requirements, available resources and appointment times.
  • Ensure are optimized for cost, time, and service level.
  • Organize and consolidate LTL shipments into delivery runs to facilitate improved transit times and customer service while reducing transportation expenses.
  • Determine the most efficient and economical routes and freight movement which fully meet the customer service requirements while maximizing profit.
  • Manage backhauls and reduce empty miles through effective routing and load assignments.
  • Handle unforeseen issues such as traffic delays, mechanical problems, or weather disruptions, adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Review completed loads for success or failure. Initiate investigations into causes of late pickups or deliveries, cargo damage or customer complaints. Report to Operations Management using the appropriate measurable to reflect corrective action and recurrence prevention.
  • Provide outstanding customer service based on timely and accurate feedback to questions relative to assigned duties.
  • Assist stakeholders in resolving issues regarding loading, unloading, appointments, unplanned accessorial charges, and communicate to appropriate parties as necessary.
  • Analyze existing shipping processes for possible improvements and provide support for various implementation plans.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners regarding shipping schedules and requirements.
  • Collaborate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Monitor and assess supply chain processes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Operations Manager.
