JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking to hire an experienced full-time Load Planner for our Brockville, Ontario terminal. The Load Planer is responsible for supporting our operations team with daily tasks to ensure freight is moving efficiently and cost-effective manner. NB: This role embodies an exceptional career opportunity for a person familiar with the transportation industry.
Schedule: 11:00PM to 7:30AM, Sunday to Thursday

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience as a Load Planner or similar is considered a strong asset.
  • A strong geographic knowledge of the area is required.
  • Well-organized, punctual, and computer literate—with an emphasis on spreadsheets and email applications relevant to logistics.
  • Previous experience in the transportation industry, or a related administrative role is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of transportation regulations and best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Determine the most efficient and economical route. Utilize optimization software and determine the most cost-effective routes and freight movement which fully meet the customer service requirements while maximizing profit.
  • Review previous day’s loads for success and failures and provide metrics. Initiate investigations into causes of damage or shortages of consignments.
  • Organize and consolidate LTL shipments into delivery runs to facilitate improved transit times and customer service while reducing transportation expenses.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery, reporting issues to warehousing and procurement.
  • Provide outstanding customer service based on timely and accurate feedback to appropriate questions relative to assigned duties.
  • Assist stakeholders in resolving issues regarding loading, unloading, appointments, unplanned accessorial and communicate to appropriate parties as necessary.
  • Analyze existing shipping processes for possible improvements and provide support for various implementation plans.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Manager.
