General Summary:  A Bank of Guam LAD Credit Officer I will supervise a division of the LAD Team and will be responsible for initiating and pursuing various types of collection efforts to ensure the prompt collection of delinquent and charged-off direct/indirect consumer, commercial, construction and real estate loans. You must be able to work well with others in team and work well individually. *  Actively participates in team moral building activities both inside and outside of the bank.  * Participate and share ideas during department meetings. * Open to cross-training, collaborating and supporting fellow team members to meet department goals * Take pride in the roll of team lead.  Share ideas, lead with heart, guide collectors in finding best solutions to assist internal and external customers.      Manage the Experience Exempt 20% * Proactively role model our bank brand personalities and build meaningful connections with employees, customers and vendors. * Resolve problems quickly, ensures root causes are addressed and work to eliminate repeat issues. * Represent/participate in Bank sponsored events and community outreach programs. *       Manage the Transaction/Tasks Exempt 50% * Contact customers to request payment of delinquent amounts and arranges an acceptable payment plan. * Contact credit, employment, and other references when customer whereabouts are unknown * Review credit and other available information on delinquent accounts, evaluate prospects for collection of delinquent amounts * Perform research on customer history * Prepare periodic reports of collection activities * Prepare charge-off requests/reports * Process payments made in Loan Adjustment Department or payments collected while conducting field work * Document all collection efforts and files all necessary documentation in appropriate files * Perform fieldwork; customer visits, repossessions, foreclosures, collateral inspections and documents all relevant information * Prepare credit write-ups for loan modifications/workouts.   * Prepare loan referrals to Attorneys. * Prepare memorandums requests on accounts for Loan Committee review and approval * Prepare weekly/monthly reports * Place holds/releases/offsets deposit accounts in relation to delinquent accounts * Communicates with the Attorneys/Small Claims Court on issues on referred loans * Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and as assigned     Mitigate the Risk Exempt 10% * Keeps informed of laws, regulations, and rulings governing negotiable instruments, insolvency, and bankruptcy. * Maintain the confidentiality of both the customer and the bank. * Understands and applies bank policy and procedures. * Adhere to all state and federal regulations. * Complete all bank mandated training         FLSA Categorization  Exempt 100%   Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Proficiency in Microsoft Office products * Ability to operate standard office equipment (typewriter, facsimile machine, copy machine etc) * Valid driver’s license and ability to operate an automobile * Ability to work flexible hours/days * Ability to work with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines * Ability to read and interpret documents, instructional manuals and procedures * Strong problem solving abilities necessary to analyze, and resolve issues as it relates to the job description * Must be a results oriented performer  * Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence * Must be multi-task oriented  * Must be able to work with/communicate with irate customers * Ability to plan and prioritize work. * Ability to establish cross functional, collaborative relationships with internal Bank colleagues as well as outside vendors  * Knowledge of basic business principles and company goals and objectives * Ability to work in teams/team player   Education and Experience: * High school graduate or equivalent or general education degree (GED)  * Four or more years’ experience in collections or related field   Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
