POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Loan Support Specialist II DEPARTMENT: Lending CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt APPROVED BY: CEO WAGE GRADE: 7 WAGE RANGE: $19.80 - $24.76 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS POSITION REPORTS TO: Lending Operations Assistant Manager POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for the support of and communication to credit union personnel and performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Receives telephone calls promptly and courteously to assist both members and internal staff. Receives, review and processes consumer loan applications, approves those that meet initial lending criteria and are within approved lending limits, and presents loan decisions in accordance with Credit Union policy. Responsible for providing explanations to members regarding existing loans, including payment history, and interest calculations. Projects the Credit Union’s professional image, provides general Credit Union information and looks to enhance member relationships. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of assigned lending support functions. Provides general information to members on Credit Union policies and programs. Interviews, takes applications, gathers information and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests, Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria. Compute debt ratios. Verify employment and income. Determines value of collateral. Process approved loan applications and notifies applicants of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required. Informs member of our ancillary products. Calculates terms, finance charges and insurance on loans for proper disclosure on promissory notes. Coordinates loan closings. Ensures each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, decisioned and disbursed. Verifies insurance coverage when required. Assumes responsibility for filing collateral titles and UCC’s and prompt follow-up on those still pending. Assists in servicing loans by processing such items as payoff, skip payments, loan modifications, payment due date changes, creation and modification of payment methods, SWBC escalations, modifying debt protection packages, back dated storage waivers. Reviews and completes multiple required reports. Maintains report history for audit purposes Assist members with loan research and provide responses and resolutions. Ensures lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant. Ensures loan requests are properly documented. Maintains department files, completes required report reviews and maintains report history for audit purposes. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members, vendors and trade professionals. Assists with questions and problems courteously and promptly. Actively works to build member relationships by counseling members regarding financial matters and by offering other products and services. Maintains a significant level of trust and diplomacy with our vendor and dealer partners. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with Credit Union personnel and management. Assists and supports department personnel. Coordinates activities with related departments and obtains or conveys information as needed. Keeps Management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Attends and participates in meetings as required. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Good working relationships, DEI and collaborative initiatives exist with credit union personnel. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Basic understanding of business service functions. Knowledge of related computer applications. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Previous related experience helpful. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent interviewing, communication and public relations skills. Professional appearance and attitude. Willing to cooperate with and assist others. Well organized and attentive to detail. Ability to operate related computer applications and other business equipment including calculators, typewriter, printer and telephone. MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing and use decimals to compute ratios and percentages. LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines and instruction manuals. Ability to prepare memos, reports and essays using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar. Ability to distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent) and variation in word order using present, perfect and future tenses.
