Your duties will include picking up items from suppliers or customers and delivering them to designated destinations in a safe and timely manner. You will need to adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while ensuring the security and integrity of the cargo being transported. Key Responsibilities: Safely and efficiently pick up items from designated locations, such as warehouses, businesses, or residences, and deliver them to specified destinations according to schedules. Properly load and unload cargo, ensuring that items are secure and protected from damage during transit. Utilize appropriate equipment and techniques to handle various types of goods. Plan and optimize delivery routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption while meeting delivery deadlines. Familiarize yourself with local roads, traffic patterns, and any potential obstacles or hazards. Perform routine inspections of assigned vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or concerns to appropriate personnel and conduct basic maintenance tasks as needed, such as checking fluid levels and tire pressure. Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, including delivery manifests, invoices, and proof of delivery forms. Maintain organized records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption. Report any issues and accidents to appropriate personnel, i.e. OS&D for claims and management and safety for vehicle related accidents. Provide courteous and professional service to customers at pick-up and delivery locations. Communicate effectively with customers and address any questions or concerns they may have regarding their shipments. Adhere to all relevant regulations and safety standards governing the transportation industry, including but not limited to, vehicle weight limits, hours of service regulations, and hazardous materials handling procedures. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsQualifications: 21 years of age Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. CDL with doubles, haz mat endorsement and tankers. No license suspension, revocation for more than 30 days No violations of the following in the last 36 moth period prior to the date of hire: Conviction of an at fault accident Reckless driving in any motor vehicle No violation of the following for the last 60 month period prior to the date of hire: No DUI or reckless driving in and motor vehicle No violations of DOT drug or alcohol requirements/proof of SAP required for any violations Proven experience as a delivery driver or similar role, preferably in a commercial or logistics setting. Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Good physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Reliable and punctual with strong time management skills. Effective communication and customer service skills. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience operating delivery vehicles, such as vans, trucks, or commercial vehicles. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software. Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance procedures. Hazardous materials endorsement or other relevant certifications. Working Conditions: Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. The job may require long hours of driving, often in urban or suburban areas with heavy traffic. May be exposed to various weather conditions and physical demands associated with loading and unloading cargo. Some deliveries may involve handling of fragile or hazardous materials, requiring extra care and attention to safety protocols.
