Description Summary: The Local Construction Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by facilitating the needs of the customer’s job site in the Eastern Iowa market. This includes, but is not limited to ordering material, receiving material at jobsite, providing material coordination and agile construction practices to the jobsite. This individual is an important liaison between Van Meter sales, operations, and targeted contractors in the field. This person exemplifies all safe work practices. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives Complete returns for parts from the jobsite Maintain jobsite inventory Complete parts requests through ordering, receiving and shipping Conduct product inspection, and storage at the jobsite Flexible and adaptable to change priorities on short notice Work closely with Inside Sales and Purchasing Provide customer service and support as main contact between Van Meter and specific jobsite personnel Build relationships with site personnel Set up and relocate fabrication stations/areas Clean, stock and remove excess material from work areas Deliver parts to needed areas of jobsite Receive and distribute deliveries as needed Keep work areas clean and orderly Deliver, unload, and stage materials on jobsite as needed Extended out of state travel to customer job sites Requirements Critical Success Factors: Ability to work collaboratively with all areas of the job site Ability to learn, grow, and adapt to change Ability to effectively communicate with outside vendors and customers Execute duties with the highest regard for safety, continuous improvement, and cost reduction Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment Strong work ethic with a positive attitude Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback Excellent communication skills Strong problem solving ability Ability to analyze workload and establish priorities with time sensitive deadlines Self-motivated Dependable Detail orientated Ability to stay on task Drive for continuous improvement Advocate for Van Meter Job Requirements/Specifications: High school diploma or GED required Previous customer service experience required Previous distribution center experience preferred Ability to lift 70 lbs. on a consistent basis Ability to operate lift truck equipment Ability to work an extended shift to complete work tasks as needed Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Demonstrated computer skills Knowledge of Eclipse preferred Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus Forklift operating experience required Minimum 2 year commitment required Work Environment & Physical Demands: Consistent standing, walking, lifting, work indoors Frequent carrying, pushing, bending @ the waist, twisting upper body, reaching, working with hands, working with fingers, vision acuity-near, vision acuity-far, depth perception, field of vision, vision adjustment, color vision, team lifting, works with others, cold, heat, temperature changes Some sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, driving, works alone, non-Standard shift work, extended day, humid, noise, work outdoors, mechanical hazards Occasional crawling, customer contact, wet, vibration, confined area, high places, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an incumbent.
