JOB SUMMARY

We’re looking for a reliable and safety-focused Local Delivery Truck Driver to join our team. This role involves operating a variety of trucks (body job or tractor-trailer) to deliver materials such as animal feed, dry food, chemicals, and industrial equipment to customers locally and within short distances outside the city.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience and delivery work
  • Valid Class 1 license
  • Clean 5-year driver’s abstract (fewer than 4 demerit points)
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Personal vehicle required (public transit access is limited)
  • Comfortable using PDAs and completing digital delivery documentation
  • Physically able to lift, secure freight, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Strong awareness of dock and road safety

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class 1, 3, or 5 vehicles depending on assigned equipment
  • Complete routine pre-trip inspections and report maintenance concerns
  • Conduct minor preventative maintenance and keep vehicles clean inside and out
  • Communicate with dispatch via two-way radio, PDA, and/or phone (hands-free)
  • Load and unload freight safely; use appropriate equipment and secure loads with straps or chains
  • Ensure proper documentation of deliveries including BOLs, probills, and driver logs
  • Follow safety protocols at docks and delivery sites, including proper use of PPE
  • Attach tire chains when necessary and navigate various weather and traffic conditions
  • Comply with all transportation regulations, including the National Safety Code and TDG requirements
  • Report all incidents and injuries to dispatch immediately
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by dispatch or terminal manager
