Description
This position is responsible for our customer’s freight transport by way of pickups and deliveries. Essential Duties  Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures  Inspect trucks and trailer(s) for defects through pre-trip, mid-trip and post-trip inspections and submit reports indicating their condition  Operate a variety of trucks and equipment adhering to posted speed limits and all other local, state, and federal laws and regulations  Maintain driver e-logs and e-maintenance logs according to State and Federal regulations when outside of 150 air miles  Make customer pick-ups in a manner that reflects superior customer service  Spot and park trucks to warehouse, chock wheels, and assist in unloading freight  Maintain contact with dispatcher to receive accurate dispatch instructions and report safety hazards and/or incidents involving the driver or any company equipment  Ensure that cargo is secured for transport in vans and flatbeds according to the FMCSRs and hazardous materials regulations  Prepare bills of lading  Maintain a clean work environment including swept trailer, clean cab, windows, and mirrors  Determine discrepancies in paperwork and make corrections  Verify proper placarding when hauling HAZMAT  Perform basic vehicle maintenance  May perform Dock Worker duties as it applies to loading and unloading trailers  May down stack and inside delivery at customer locations  May be required to complete emergency roadside repairs   Bulk Local Drivers transport Hazmat in bulk, to include bulkers, tankers, and ISO's  Bulk Local Drivers operate and maintain specialty equipment offsite to include hydraulic and pneumatic   Kodiak location - Load and unload Ferry and Barges  Other duties as assigned  Qualifications  Education, Experience, and Certifications  Qualifications  High school education or a GED equivalent  Class A CDL driver’s license with all endorsements  HAZMAT endorsement within 90-days of hire and maintain HAZMAT, required  Flatbed experience, preferred  Experience with pallet jacks and lift gates, preferred  One to three years of verifiable safe driving experience preferred, newly graduated drivers welcomed  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  Must have excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills  Impeccable character, integrity, and unfailing initiative in a team environment.  Must be customer focused and represent Carlile in a professional and friendly manner  Must be able to prioritize daily tasks and assignments  Must pay attention to detail and accuracy  Must be able to multitask and have excellent time management skills  Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions, ice, snow, rain, etc.  Benefits At Carlile Transportation, we understand the importance of fostering a comprehensive and supportive benefits package to enhance the overall well-being of our valued employees.
