Description

The successful candidate (with 24/7 Consultant level support) will work in a multidisciplinary environment, and need to have excellent networking skills, as they will be required to liaise with other teams both in QEHB, and also other trauma units, as well as a number of Military personnel. The MTS On Call LED joins each ED trauma alert and ensures safe and timely delivery of major trauma objectives. The MTS LEDs deliver ward-based care and participate regularly in both MDT and morbidity & mortality meetings. The successful candidate will join the Major Trauma Service team, which currently consists of 11 Tier 1/2 Doctors, a team of Consultant and Specialist (Surgeons/Doctors).
Successful candidates will work a rota including day, night and weekend cover, maximum workload will not exceed 1 in 5 weekends. Night and Weekend cover is resident. The rota is EWTD and Deanery compliant. LEDs are directly supported by the Consultant Tier, who provide a 24/7 Co-ordinating Trauma Consultant (CTC) cover (on site availability within 30 mins out of hours).
One of the Consultant Tier also provides enhanced support and guidance to the MTS junior team. This post is not restricted to T&O trainees and is very suitable for trainees of other surgical specialties, emergency medicine, critical care and anaesthesia. We would also welcome trainees from other specialties. We do not usually treat children at QEHB, they attend the Birmingham Children’s Hospital
