Description:

As a member of BroadGrain’s Market Advisor team, you will effectively purchase grain from farmers through programs that meet or exceed their pricing, transportation, storage, information and educational needs. You will achieve volume, growth and contribute to profitability. The perfect candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with the business and ensure the delivery of high quality and timely service to BroadGrain.

Reporting directly to the Local elevator manager, and indirectly to the Senior director, Feed trade the successful candidate will:

  • Actively purchase grain for delivery into company facilities, specifically focusing on IP soybeans and dry bean programs, while ensuring alignment with market conditions and customer needs.
  • Oversee all administrative functions related to grain purchases, including drafting, reviewing, and executing contracts, as well as processing settlements to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide timely market information and competitive cash grain bids to patrons. Develop and maintain grain marketing plans tailored to the specific needs of targeted customers, enabling them to make informed decisions.
  • Collaborate with traders and the grain merchandising team by providing ongoing market insights and feedback. Contribute to the development of effective procurement strategies based on current market trends and customer feedback.
  • Position BroadGrain as the first choice in value-added grain marketing by actively seeking new business opportunities. Regularly contact existing and potential customers through farm visits and telephone communications to foster relationships and identify their needs.
  • Organize, plan, and deliver both group and individual grain marketing educational programs. Prepare engaging presentations and materials to enhance customers’ understanding of market trends, pricing strategies, and grain management.
  • Grade various classes of grain to ensure compliance with quality standards. Maintain thorough documentation of grading activities to support operational integrity.
  • Assist with grain receiving operations during the harvest season, ensuring the process runs smoothly and efficiently. Follow established protocols to ensure accurate weighing and quality assessment of incoming grain.
  • Support scale operations as directed, ensuring accurate measurement and documentation of grain transactions.
  • Understand and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Promote a culture of safety within the workplace and ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with regulations.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by acting as a primary point of contact for clients. Address inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded at all times.
  • Execute grain contracts from pricing through to delivery, ensuring all terms are met and that clients are satisfied with the transaction process.
  • Assist in resolving supplier issues and customer complaints promptly and effectively. Work collaboratively with relevant teams to implement solutions that enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular farm visits to strengthen relationships with clients, understanding their operations and challenges to better meet their needs.
  • Organize the delivery schedule for both the group and individual farmers, ensuring that the dates are clearly outlined. Follow up with them daily during the harvesting period to ensure everything is on track.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in agricultural business or economics preferred
  • 3-5 years related agricultural and merchandising experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationshipsAbility to travel
